HEAL THE WORLD WITH THE COVID-19 VACCINE
The covid-19 vaccine was one of the sought-after vaccines in the year 2020, which motivated me to write this beautiful piece.
Heal the world, make it a better place, for you and for me and the entire human race, there are, people dying if you care enough for the living, make a better place for you and for me.
‘Joshua, come to the table, food is ready!’
‘OK, Mum, I will be there soon!’
Joshua listens to ‘Heal the World’ by Michael Jackson ever since his dad was taken away because he contracted the Coronavirus. He is a boy of eight years, he is smart and determined.
His mum loves him so much and does everything she can for her little boy. Ever since her husband was assumed to have been infected with the Coronavirus and was taken away to be quarantined immediately he returned from abroad, her world changed, nothing seems to make any sense but her little boy, he is her hope and strength in this difficult and challenging moment of their lives.
Joshua’s dad is Joshua’s best friend and his only friend. Joshua made a decision not to make friends or open up to his peers ever since he lost his sister at the age of four. He has always been so smart at a tender age, that he came to the conclusion not to get too close to people because he is scared that he might lose them too, and that is a really difficult thing to deal with. He is a really sensitive kid, he takes after his mother, who is also really sensitive, his father has always been her backbone, but now that he has been taken away, with no idea what will happen to him eventually, Joshua knows that he has to be there for his mother at all times, he has to take care of her. She is all he has.
‘Mum, are you done eating?
‘Yes baby, I am.
Joshua, clears up the table and does the dishes, then tells his mum that she needs to go to bed, but she laughs because she is the adult but he treats her like she is the kid. Joshua promised himself and he promised his dad just before he was taken away, that he will take his place and take care of his mother.
Joshua decides to sleep by his mother's side in her bedroom, he watches as she dozes off, then immediately, he gets down from the bed, goes to the living room and puts on the TV, he Changes the TV Station to CNN to watch the Coronavirus updates. As he watches the reporter speak of the fear of Covid-19 by the World health organization, a drop of tears rolls down his eyes because this is not the news he wants to hear, he wants to know that a Covid-19 vaccine has been found, he wants his dad to be fine again so that he can come home and things can return to normal. He wants to stop seeing that sad expression on his mother’s face, he wants her to be happy again like how she used to be whenever they had dinner together, but all he can see on the coronavirus update is that more people have been infected and there have been more deaths.
‘I am really scared God, Please help my daddy’
.
He cleans off his tears and goes back to bed.
With his dad away, Joshua has been really lonely, these days his mum prefers to be by herself, he sees the effort she puts into trying to look happy and make sure that Joshua is happy, Joshua plays along because he does not want to stress his mum more than she already is, but he wishes she can be his best friend right now, just like his dad was his best friend. Joshua is also hungry but the time is 4pm and he already took his lunch. His mum says they need to manage all they have, that due to the crisis there is barely enough money left to take care of the home and most especially they can not go shopping because they have to self isolate, in order not to contract the virus.
‘How did everything go so wrong, when will it all become better’?
This is the question Joshua asks himself ever since his dad was taken away.
As Joshua leans on the window in his living room reminiscing about his dad, he hears some kids playing on the street, he sees them and realizes they snuck out of their homes to play with each other because he can not imagine that their parents will let them out to play when there were strict instructions for citizens to stay indoors, in other to prevent the spread of the virus and there were up to seven kids on the street playing with one another.
‘This is just so wrong’, Joshua says to himself.
He decides to speak to the kids on the street really audibly in other to be heard by them
‘You all should not be out there, you should be indoors with your family.
All the kids turn to look at him, then one of the kid shouts and says:
‘Oh shut up, you are just jealous that you are not playing with us, besides, we can never be infected with the Coronavirus like your dad’!
When Joshua hears this, he runs into his room and begins to cry, he cries uncontrollably and eventually sleeps off.
When he wakes up, he goes into his mother’s room to be with her, he sees her on her laptop working.
‘Mummy are we cursed’? Joshua asks.
His mum looks at him, shocked at the question asked.
‘We are not cursed baby, why would you say that?
‘Then why are all these bad things happening to us’?
Joshua’s mum takes Joshua in her arms and hugs him really tight,
‘Everything is going to be fine, I promise you, soon, you will see how blessed we really are, you will see that everything that is happening right now is just to keep in mind that this life is filled with obstacles and only the strong and kindhearted can survive. So, my baby, you have to be strong OK? I need you to fight whatever negative thought that runs through your mind and tell yourself every day that you are a blessed child and that everything will be fine, and you see, everything will definitely be.
As his mum says this to Joshua, she says a short prayer in her mind, praying to God to make things right in a few weeks, she prays to God to give her the strength to be strong for her baby boy, she prays to God for her son to come out of everything that is happening to them stronger and not broken.
Joshua pecks his mum and goes to his room, he puts on his music player and Michael Jackson’s ‘Heal the World’ begins to play, Joshua lays down on his bed, feeling so much better. He smiles and says to himself
‘Everything will definitely be OK, the pandemic will soon be over and the Covid-19 Vaccine will be out, I can feel it, my dad will be fine again, I know it.
‘Soon, there would be no more FEAR OF COVID-19’.
It will get better soon. I believe so. Beautiful Write up. Great content.
