My mother left me alone at night
With no care, with no light
All I want is to hold her tight
And wake up in the morning all happy and bright.

But I have to manage to get through just fine
Maybe all she wants is to help me learn to shine
Even though I might be just nine
I know better than to sit here and whine.

I am determined and brave
At least I am not in a grave
I know my mother is all I crave
But I will be fine because I am DAVE
And that means I can do anything very easily.
